The Slow Pour
Sunlit café interior seen from the doorway: bare wooden tables and bentwood chairs, with hard window light thrown across the floorboards.

Filter coffee · Bermondsey · Fictional café

The bean is on the board. So is the closing time.

We print what we are pouring and when we stop pouring it, and then we keep to both. Nothing on this page is a countdown.

Two things we print

01

The bean is named before you order it

One coffee is on the filter board at a time, and the region, the process and the roast date are printed at the top of this page and on the wall by the till. When the bag runs out the board changes. It does not change quietly.

02

The closing time is the closing time

The hours below are the hours. We do not stay open late for a good afternoon or shut early on a slow one, and the last pour goes in 10 minutes before the door is locked so it is finished properly rather than rushed.

The last pour goes in 10 minutes before the door is locked. There is no countdown on this page and there is none on the wall either — the time is printed, and that is the whole promise.

The telephone and email slots above are empty on purpose. The Slow Pour is a fictional café built as a demonstration template, so there is no number to print and printing one anyway would be the single dishonest line on the page.
