The board

A year you can read at a glance.

Four season bands, twelve months, two rates each. The page takes its colour from whichever band you are reading — low season is ice, high summer is chalk and amber.

The cabins

Four cabins on one stretch of water.

Three are listed below. The fourth, Vinterbu, is still being re-roofed and is not taking bookings — it is on the board as soon as it is finished, and not before.

A red-painted timber cabin with a turf roof standing at the water's edge.

Rødstua

The red one, on the rock shelf. Turf roof, one room, a stove that heats it in twenty minutes and a door that opens onto the water.

Why the price moves

The water decides the price. We just show you.

  1. 01Daylight sets the demandFour hours of light in January, nineteen in July. Almost everyone wants the same eight weeks, so those eight weeks cost more.
  2. 02The bands are fixed before the year startsLow, shoulder and high are published in advance and do not move. Nothing reprices because you looked at it twice.
  3. 03Weekends carry a separate rateFriday and Saturday nights are priced above weeknights in every band. Both figures are on the board; neither is a surcharge added at the end.
  4. 04Weather is not a discountIt rains in August and it is beautiful in November. The band follows the calendar, not the forecast, and we do not sell the forecast.
A wide flat expanse of open water under a broad sky, the horizon a thin dark line.

The shoulder weeks

Late September is the best week of the year, and it is the cheapest.

The water is still holding August’s heat, the headland has turned, and the jetty is empty by four. It is on the board at shoulder rate because the calendar says shoulder — not because anyone worked out what you would pay for it.

How booking works

Three steps, no back-and-forth.

  1. 1

    No date picker

Pick a week off the board

The rate you can see is the rate. Two-night minimum everywhere, three at Sjøbua.

  2. 2

    One message

    Tell us which one

One message with the month and the cabin. We reply with the nights that are still free and the total, itemised.

  3. 3

    Self check-in

Collect the key at the quay

Key fob, tide table and the stove instructions. Nobody meets you at the door unless you ask them to.
